This project focused on resolving a highly inefficient and unconventional circulation path within the house, transforming it into a cohesive, functional layout tailored for everyday family living. Previously, access to key areas required navigating through the kitchen, stepping down into a bedroom, and continuing through additional level changes into a hallway that connected the laundry and an unconditioned utility space. Through thoughtful design services, we reimagined this sequence to eliminate unnecessary transitions and improve overall flow. The solution involved closing off the existing kitchen access point and creating an oversized and more intentional opening from the living room. This new connection incorporates a defined two-step transition into a newly established hallway, providing a clear and logical pathway that links the adjacent spaces. As part of the redesign, the former bedroom and laundry room were seamlessly integrated into this new circulation spine, while the previously unconditioned utility space was converted into an additional bedroom. A new shared bathroom was also added to support the two bedrooms. The end result is the creation of a dedicated “kids’ wing” - a thoughtfully organized portion of the house that simplifies movement, improves usability, and brings a sense of order and comfort to the family’s daily routine. months
